SAVES (Skills for Academic, Vocational, and English Studies) is a refugee education assistance program that assist refugee students entering the United States with Tuition cost for Vocational and English Language courses. This website provides information about services and requirements of the SAVES refugee program at Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The goal of the SAVES program is to help eligible individuals learn the English language and provide vocational training to become self-sufficient and better members of our community. In many instances, the program has aided students with paying for their books, tuition, bus passes, degree translations and evaluation and provide other services.
The SAVES program provides individuals with free interpreters or other communication assistance for persons who are deaf or hard-of-hearing. To qualify for the SAVES, clients must have the eligible immigration status, a referral from a Comprehensive Refugee Services agency, lived in the United States for less than 5 years, and reside in Miami Dade County.
